Blooming tea

A blooming teapot after dinner at Aunt Louise's place. She always has the neatest stuff.

Kings of the castle

Cutie-patootie bits playing on a snow drift. This isn't a camera trick, that snow pile is higher than my head.

Pretty frost

Pretty frost patterns on the car window.

Potholes

Seriously, once the worst of the snow is scraped off the roads it becomes apparent that we should have left it there - you could lose a smartcar in some of these!

Yet another hockey game

C and his friend Ryan caught another Sens game tonight (from the cheap seats). Sent from his camera phone.

Eclipse

Someday I'll get a better camera with a heavy duty zoom lens... maybe in time for the next total lunar eclipse?

Chateau

I braved the snow for a stroll through the downtown today. Couldn't get very far, there's a lot of plowing issues, but I did shoot a couple of frames of the beautiful Chateau Laurier, from the side, by the locks. Lovely old building, but seriously overpriced as a place to stay.

specs

It's so hard to keep these things on his face but tell me - doesn't it look like maybe they don't fit quite right? Looking closely it seems like they might be a tad too small (of course, they're so bent and mangled how can I be sure?)

Birthday brunch

We hosted a lovely birthday brunch for C, so that the family could come wish him well and so that he could have the birthday cake that Katie insisted he needed.

Tanning by the oven light

What a lovely (and rather strange) tan my big ham is getting under the oven burners :) Yummmmm.... pig flesh!

Another day...

Another dump of snow...

Will the snowplow savings pay for repaving?

We live in a condo (boo-hiss), and this year there's a new snow removal contract in place. To call it terrible would be too generous. Do you suppose the money that the condo board saved hiring these yoyos will pay to have all of the walkways repaved in the Spring? Because this divot (which is about6 inches by 10 inches) is only one of dozens. Careless idiots.

So cruel

C and I took the day off, I have a stomach bug that makes even the thought of food threaten to send me potty-ward and he makes this for breakfast. Thanks darlin'.

Hockey game - part two

Tonight it was just me and C in the expensive seats, 1 row from the ice. Man was it loud when they crashed into the boards and smashed the puck off the glass. Unfortunately, we lost after a pretty lackluster effort :( Sorry bé... Happy Birthday anyway!

Cheesy goodness

What can I say about a man who, when his wife on a whim craves French onion soup, actually MAKES French onion soup... from scratch! He's a keeper.

Brothers

My dad and uncle on Dow's Lake. It's an annual ritual for my dad to come up to skate the canal during Winterlude, and for the past few years my uncle has joined him. A kind of guy's weekend, except with me along ;) Today the air temperature wasn't bad, but the wind was way worse than we were expecting, 90 minutes on the ice (20 or so of which were spent warming up with coffee) and we were done.

Star on Ice

Pretty princess on her new skates enjoying the canal.

The BIG gift

Katie received this MASSIVE Barbie house for Christmas from my parents, but there was no way we could bring it back with us in December. Today my dad and uncle arrived to spend the weekend with us and were able to bring Katie's house in the back of the truck. Katie was pretty darned pleased to have her house back... I'm thinking I need a bigger house myself to store this montrosity in!

Hockey game - part one

As part of C's birthday present I got him this personalized new style Senator's jersey (and he definitely wears it well!) I also bought 4 tickets for today's game, cheap seat since we brought the bits and weren't sure how long they'd last (the answer was the whole game though they each slept through a portion of it!) and good seats for next week on his birthday proper.

We waited until just about everyone else had left the arena to leave ourselves (Jonah was sound asleep), so I was able to take some nice pictures with the empty arena as a backdrop.

(PS - we won, Go Sens Go!)

Poor Little Sickie

Poor Wookie had a very tough night, up over and over again to throw up. After the others left for the day he finally fell into a sound sleep in mama's bed.

Winterlude 2008

The first weekend of Winterlude. We spent the morning at Jacques Cartier Park enjoying the massive snow slides. If you squint you can make out me, flanked by the bits, screaming down the slide :)

More white stuff

This has been the snowiest winter I can remember, another foot and a bit down.

Neither snow nor rain...

Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds.
