Lilacs 2010

I love lilacs. My parents bought me a pair of little lilacs for my birthday last year, a purple and a white. They're small, but they're thriving, and rewarding me with a handful of small fragrant blooms this year...

The rest are still shut tight, but this early bird near the bottom has bloomed ahead of his brothers. I love my lilacs!

More of my lilac, it's growing so fast, and there are SO many more flower buds this year.

Can you seem them? Little purple flowers, just starting to peek out. It'll be a few weeks yet before they're real flowers, but I'm so excited! And there are a lot more this year than there were last....

And so it begins

My lilacs have started opening! My front yard is sheltered and shaded in the afternoon and evening so they're a couple of days behind other lilacs, but they're opening beautifully and smelling wonderful :)

Not just a bud anymore

A few more days of sunshine and these babies will be opening! I can hardly wait, lilacs are my favourite flowers :)

Bud - part 3

I'm so excited! My parents planted this lilac as my birthday gift in the Spring of 2003, it's never bloomed before (because it was just a baby lilac) but this year it has real flower buds! Not a lot of them, but a few, and obviously purple. I can't wait until they open (now how do I keep the babes from picking them?)

There's a wee bit of frost damage from the unexpected dump of late season snow, but all in all it survived quite well. My wee lilac bush.
